Avatar is fine

I suppose I will have to blog about non-climbing related things occasionally, especially since it seems as if I will be unable to go to HP40 (the fault of the GRE).

I went to go see the film Avatar with a few friends today. Here is my mini-review:

Avatar has a current rating of 8.9 on imdb based on over 44,000 votes. This alone had me convinced my initial skepticism should be reconsidered. Unfortunately, I do not feel Avatar deserves to be in the imdb top 50, let alone 25 (I know quite a few people that don't "trust" imdb). However, Avatar is graphically impressive and has good flow even though it is about 150 minutes long. I had read some reviews that were critical of the storyline, but I felt the main problem was the prosaic discourse: too many cliches.

All in all, Avatar is a decent movie. Maybe opting to watch it via IMAX is the preferred method.
